Key Stage 5

BTEC QCF Level 3 in Performing Arts (for students completing in 2017)

Students must complete 6 different units totally 60 credits. The units of work range from Choreography to basic dance skills. The units will be chosen to suit student needs.

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate.

Students must complete four units, 3 of which are mandatory and one chosen to suit the needs to the students.

Gifted and Talented

Gifted and talented students are choreographed more challenging sequences, they are given the opportunity to choreograph for their peers and to lead performances. Students will develop skills and experiences in the subject with vocational links that would benefit them in career or higher/further education options.

The department follows the Academy policy on homework.

Teachers set homework linked with lesson content and in line with planned assessments.

A statement about literacy

Literacy in Dance is developed through the use of key words associated with subject specific language. Students are required to use faultless literacy in all written tasks.
